March has been interesting. I’m trying to break myself out of the habit of saving the more expensive or fancier products, or even ones that I enjoy the most, for only special occasions and start enjoying them now – baby steps, currently.
Bullet journaling is something new that I started trying out in March. One thing that it has definitely been working out great for is helping me keep track of the makeup I wear. It’s something easy to set up, takes about 2 minutes to log in, and then I’m a lot more organized, as far as the makeup goes. So, if there’s a look posted in these Beauty Reports or Week’s Peeks, and I haven’t made a post with more details, you could still ask me what was on my face and I’ll most likely be able to tell you! Hopefully, I’ll keep this up regularly. I’m planning out a post for it when I’ve used it more.
Let’s get into the Beauty Report for March!

Cushion foundations seem to be the next thing in the cosmetic world. It’s weird because people made such a fuss about how the Maybelline concealers have a sponge-tip applicator that couldn’t be cleaned, and so people didn’t like the idea of unsanitary conditions with using it. Now, people are talking about cushion foundations, which cannot be cleaned. I use the Maybelline with the sponge-tip applicator and I don’t think there’s been a problem with using it as far as breakouts go; it’s supposed to be anti-microbial (bacteria doesn’t grow or doesn’t grow as quickly).

Right: L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation N3.5
In person, they're very close in color.
All that to say, I’m trying the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation – so far, so good, but I’d like to use it more before I say much more about it. I can say that the formula feels light on the skin. The picture has Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in shade 5.0 on the left then blended out some, and the L’Oreal Cushion in N3.5 on the right. 5.0 looks darker, but in person it is so close.
I’ve been trying out the Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten to add slightly more coverage and to set the L’Oreal and other liquid foundations. I’m not sure if it’s working well for setting, but I think I like it more than the Rimmel powder a little more for my skin; I’m still thinking it over. Also, warmer weather has been teasing us here and so will provide a tougher test for powders for setting.

Right: Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Blush Video
This was the first time that I was using the Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Blush in Video regularly. I’d say the color is a soft, subtle rose that I think leans slightly warm-toned. This will be a blush that I reach for when I don’t know what to wear with the eyes and lip colors of the day. It’s very easy to incorporate into a look.
NYX Brow Powder Taupe/ Ash
Mid-month, I hit pan on the NYX Brow Powder in Ash! It’s weird because I hit pan on Taupe a long time ago and I use both colors each time I fill in my brows.

Bottom row: Sei Bella Tijuana
Sei Bella Mermaid
Maybelline Icy Mint
Maybelline Bad to the Bronze
I couldn’t get enough of the aqua eye looks! Blues and greens are my favorites for shades with my eyes, especially the aqua range, but it was one of the things that I like so much that I didn’t want to use up the products and so I’d rarely use them – again, I’m breaking out of that mindset. You’ll see some of it in the face pictures at the end of the post. I usually placed Maybelline’s Icy Mint over most of the lid as a base for Sei Bella’s Tijuana and Mermaid eyeshadows.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
On other days, I made a point to use the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Sidecar is my favorite shade from that palette so I wanted to use it more. I tend to pair it with Toasted and Hustle. After that, the combination I like is Smog on the lid, with Darkhorse, Toasted, or Hustle to deepen the crease and corners. I can’t believe I haven’t hit pan on Naked yet because I use it almost every single time that I use this palette; I use it to blend out the colors above the crease. I think I’m going to keep trying to hit pan on Naked.

Colourpop Heart On
Standing: Maybelline Color Whisper Lust for Blush
MAC Mystical (LE)
Urban Decay After Dark
Urban Decay Ex-Girlfriend
Swatches from left to right in order of above list.
Bite Beauty’s Sable is almost used up; I have about three-eighths inch left, so I’m going to keep using it but I also wanted to use some of my more recent lip color purchases and a few others. I like Colourpop’s Heart On with an aqua eye look – it’s playful, a little bold, but still appropriate for the office (or at least, no one has told me otherwise yet). I’ve had Mystical for a while and decided it was time to go ahead and make use of it; It’s in limited edition packaging from the MAC Alluring Aquatics Collection a couple years ago, but I’m sure that one would be able to find a match or similar color for it elsewhere.
Urban Decay’s After Dark and Ex-Girlfriend are the more recent purchases that I used. After Dark is a matte formula that is comfortable to put on and comfortable to wear; it was easy enough to reapply without having to wipe it all off first. It stained my lips to a pretty color when the formula wore away from eating or drinking. This shall suffice as my possibly “vampy” lip color, but I prefer blotting off some of the color for a lighter look because I don’t particularly like the dark lip look on me. It has a subtle shift, usually a plum purple that can look like a darker, more violet color. Ex-Girlfriend is from the Gwen Stefani Collection. It’s a sheer pink nude with slight shimmer. Up close, it doesn’t look like much, but the color shows up from more of a distance. I like it as an alternative to lip gloss (which I don’t really care to wear much) and gives a nice natural color to my lips.
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy
Oh, look at that progress on that rollerball sample! I’m not sure what the top mark was for, but the second mark down was where I started in February and the third from March. The bottom mark is where I’m starting for April, still working on using up this sample of Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture.
That is it. Bring on April!
