Healthy Go: Stuck in Neutral

I’m stuck in neutral. I have to figure something out and shift into a higher gear. I want to make a push, but I also know that pushing myself when I’m not ready or set tends to drop off quickly. I know where I want to get to, a healthier lifestyle that is sustainable by a stronger me. I’ve been trying to figure out a few underlying things (which takes time and dealing) and to create a vision for the next phase towards the larger goal.

I’m just not there yet. I’m not quite ready to push.

If there is any bright spot lately, it’s that even though I may be in neutral, I have not returned to previous bad habits and tastes. (Well, except maybe for iced teas and not sleeping well – the latter I’m blaming on the demon roach currently plaguing my room). I’m basically maintaining the current conditions. I still fit the same clothes, eat fat foods at about the same frequency, and have about the same amount of energy as at the beginning of the year.

Also, I have been slowly shifting my thoughts towards snacking on fruits. Baked cheddar puffs and Snapea Crisps might be healthier choices than French fries, but still I can eat an insane amount in one day if I’m not mindful of it, which kind of defeats the purpose. With fruits, I have to get up and into the kitchen, take a little more time to pick out an assortment, and wash them. We go grocery shopping once almost every week; those weeks, I’ll have at least bananas on hand.

It’s an adjusted mindset and a different set of actions.

My at-home workout area has yet some clearing to be done, but I decided not to wait. I have been rolling out the towel and doing what I can. I dusted off the 10# set, even lifted them a few times. I decided to work on being more intentional with exercises and got in a good chest workout; muscles were properly sore the next couple days, feeling stronger.

I’m stuck in neutral, but it doesn’t mean that I have been doing completely nothing. I am working on creating that vision for the next phase.

I leave you with pictures, mostly of food. Keep in mind, these pictures are from the last three weeks and do not reflect the healthy/junk food ratio accurately. It’s not easy to make the same kinds of fruits in the same bowl look exciting for the 50th time – lol!

Maui Mike's chicken. Haven't had this in a long time!
Ninja Sushi: Garlic Ebi, Spicy Ahi Donburi. First of the year.
Steamed artichoke with parmesan asparagus. Getting
back into it.
L&L Drive-Inn: french fries, mini katsu all rice. This was
shared with Dad; I had about 2/3 fries and 4 piece katsu,
enough to satisfy.
Fruit plate brought home from Dad.
That's right, I eat souls!
Shrimp Soul, brought home by Dad, not sure from where.
Shared with Mom, this is what I had.
Quaker Oats 1-minute Oatmeal with brown sugar.
Took a different walking route and came across this.
Same place as previous photo.
White Cheddar Mac & Cheese.
Fruit bowl. For some reason, it seems that I want to eat
everything out of this bowl.

Face Files: Let’s Tango!

I tend to do a lot of cool looks, so I thought I would take a break and do a warmer look. Plus, I’ve been on the fence about passing on Makeup Geek’s Mango Tango eye shadow and wanted to make another attempt to use it (and have it look at least decent on me).

To start off, I used Bad to the Bronze all over my lid, leaving the brow bone area clean; I also used some under my lower lash line [1]. On the brow bone and the inner corner tear duct area, I used Ricepaper [2]. Soft Brown went above the crease, to smooth out the transition between the bronze and the brow bone highlight [3].

Next, I dipped into Mango Tango and placed it under the lower lash line, and on the upper-outer lid [4]. I deepened the outer corner with Hammock, then ran it lightly above the crease and the inner corner [5]. Barefoot went on the inner half of the lid for more shimmer [6]. I lined the lower lash line with Woodstock [7], and ran a thin, stiff liner brush with Hammock just above Woodstock.

My eyebrows were filled in next. Then I finished the rest of the face with the usual suspects, plus Park Avenue Princess to contour, Captivating for blush, and Champagne for highlight. I lined my lips with Natural first, to help with the shape. Last, I went with Aurora all over the lips.

Indoor lighting.
I don’t think the camera does the colors justice!

In my room, as I’m doing my makeup, I keep thinking that I’m overdoing all of the colors. Then I walk out into sunlight and it’s barely there. I guess that’s better than the other way around.

I think I’ll be keeping Mango Tango for now.

April 2015 Beauty Palette

Whoa, it’s almost the middle of the month already, so I’ll just get into it.

March featured products & notes:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Dawn (Sample)
Honey by Marc Jacobs rollerball
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (as shimmer eye primer)
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe (as matte eye primer)
Various eye shadow singles and small palettes:
               Wet-n-Wild Silent Treatment Trio
               Physicians Formula Quartz Quartet
               Sei Bella Fiji/ Moss Duo
               Sei Bella Caribbean/ Midnight Duo
CAMP Cosmetics satin blush in Glamour Gangstah Gehm
MAC cremesheen lipstick in Ravishing
L’Oreal Infallible lipstick in Tender Berry
CAMP Cosmetics Lip Lava in Gehm On!
NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Strawberry Jam

I finished up the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation sample, finally; it lasted about two months of somewhat regular use for that small bottle. I didn’t use Bad to the Bronze or Strawberry Jam, and only used Silent Treatment once. Everything else on the list, I used, with additional items.

I was sick for a week, and then I had a week off (I did play with eye looks a couple times), so I didn’t use much. I like Honey a little more than just okay now but it’s not one of my top fragrances; I think I had liked it a lot more before I had come across a few others that I ended up liking more. At least it’s only a rollerball and not a full-sized bottle.

It’s going to be another tentative month; there aren’t many items that I’m itching to use soon. The list is just a starting point, things to use so I don’t have to think much in the morning.

DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom
Marc Jacobs Honey
I’ll be smelling like Fresh Blossom this month. My idea of it is that it’s a floral/ sharp fruit scent. DKNY says: “A blend of sparkling grapefruit, cassis, and sunkissed apricot meets a blooming floral heart of muguet and rose wrapped in luminous jasmine. Fresh, vibrant, and feminine. I totally got it right, right? Since I don’t have a handy travel size or pocket atomizer for it, I’ll be carrying around Honey for refreshing or if I forget to put the DKNY on; I think the two go together well enough.

Tarte Aqualillies Eye and Cheek Palette
Clockwise, from top left: Champagne highlight, Park Ave
Princess
bronzer, eye shadows in Poolside, Sundeck, Parasol,
Barefoot, Bikini, and Hammock. Center: Captivating blush.
To start out for color, I thought I’d use the Tarte Aqualillies Eye and Cheek Palette – 6 eye shadows, a blush, bronzer, and highlight. I tried to have everything else be complementary to the blush and the aquamarine shadow from the palette, but I’m not exactly sure that they’ll work together. The four shadows in the quad, I just thought I’d pull them out in case of… something.

Clockwise from left: Custom eye shadow quad (MAC Soft
Brown
, MAC Moon's Reflection, Makeup Geek Mango Tango,
MAC Ricepaper), Maybelline Tough as Taupe, Maybelline
Hydrangea Hype, Milani Brown, Maybelline Bad to the Bronze.
I’ve been very happy with the Color Tattoos, on their own and used as bases for eye shadow, so I’m continuing with Bad to the Bronze, Tough as Taupe, and Hydrangea Hype. Since using up a Physicians Formula brown eye liner last year, I have missed it but thought I would try one from another brand – I picked up the Milani Liquid Eye Liner Pencil Brown – so far, so good.

Left to right: Milani Nude Creme, Maybelline Shocking Coral,
MAC Ravishing, Revlon Peach Parfait. Bottom: Rimmel Aurora.
I had a difficult time narrowing down a lip line up, hence there are five picks at the moment. Nude Crème shall be the neutral natural one. I thought Shocking Coral and Ravishing would be a nice pop that goes with the blush. I would like to use up Peach Parfait since I’ve had it for a while and is about halfway done already. Then Aurora is the liquid lip color pick for the month.

I’m a bit tired of seeing my face with all the pictures that I take in trying to get a decent few for the Face Files posts. I haven’t taken many pictures at all for the last 2 or 3 weeks now.

I do want to have at least 1 FF post each month, so I have about two weeks left to get one done for April.

So… there you have it. Have a good rest of April!
