Hi!

Something that I am going to try out that is the generation after the “Get Used Up To It Project” I did last Autumn is what I would like to call my monthly “Beauty Palette.”

Admittedly, this is not an original idea. It is a variation on the “Weekly Makeup Basket” that some do on YouTube. The person to whom I am subscribed and does the WMB is PrettyPistol86; she has gorgeous eyes – I noticed that mostly I was watching her eyes. For the WMB, she shows the products she will be focused on using that week with some progress notes.

Her most recent WMB video:

Doing something like the basket will probably be more suitable for me as a monthly thing. I’m not going to be focused so much on using up products, though that is a part of goal, but more so on getting used to the products that I have. I will be switching things up a little during the month, using additional products and such, but specifically focusing on using certain products. Also, I wanted to call it a “palette”, like a painter’s palette, to remind me of the part of makeup that I enjoy, the creative, playful, artistic-side of makeup; this variation is just something to help me enjoy the process. Although, I do keep these items in a “basket” type thing. Hm.

LORAC Vintage Vixen eye shadow palette (Limited Edition)

To kick off my first BPalette are a few products that I won recently in a blog giveaway, courtesy of SabrinaFaith! I follow her through Bloglovin’. I don’t always enter a giveaway - and even when I do, I’m not thinking I’ll win – but I was interested in most of the products, so I thought I’d give it a shot.  She contacted me quickly and the box arrived quickly – thank you, Sabrina!

LORAC Vintage Vixen eye shadow palette (Limited Edition)

The prize included: ULTA Nail Lacquer in Eye Popping Poppy (LE), Benefit Dandelion lip gloss, ULTA Matte Lip Crayon in Raspberry Rose, Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara, LORAC Vintage Vixen Palette (LE), and Skittles. The prize products I will be featuring in the January BPalette are the ones in bold; I wanted to try them right away. I loved Skittles when I was younger, but I don’t know if I can handle the sugar by myself, so I am going to take some and share the rest; it’s a good sized box. I have a couple other lip glosses that have been opened and I ought to use up first, so I don’t want to open the Dandelion just yet, until I’m ready to make good use of it. Dandelion does look like a color that I used to have and enjoyed, so I am excited to try out the formula. Sometime in February, after I’ve used the products more, I’ll do a separate post about them. I have not used any of these products before, so this will be good!

The continuous feature products are ones that are regulars anyway. I thought it would be good to see the progress of use over the months. The foundation is one that I’m still trying to use up before it goes really bad. The powder is the only one that I keep at home and use; I have one other powder that I keep in my bag for when I am out. I was going to pass on the concealer to someone else, but in the process to sanitize it, I ended up having to cut off more of it than I had planned, and so now there is just a stub of it left and I decided to just use it up myself. The eyebrow cake powder is the only eyebrow product that I own.

January featured Products:
NYX Powder Blush in Peach
NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Buttery Nude
Chloé Eau De Parfum by Chloé (sample)
LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer (sample)

From left to right: Chloe Eau De Parfum sample, LORAC
Behind the Scenes Eye Primer sample, NYX Powder
Blush in Peach, and NYX Xtreme LipCream in Buttery Nude.

The January features are ones of which I would like to get a better understanding and/ or ones to use up. Last month, I gave away some of the products that didn’t work for me or that I was no longer using and were sanitary to be passed on to someone else, so what I have now are either new products to try or products that I like.

NYX powder blush in Peach - it has been repressed and re-
potted into the packaging of a different brand.

The Peach blush looks strange because it crumbled before and so I repressed it. Also, I had de-potted it, and then re-potted it to make it easier to use for this BPalette, but in a very old Nicole Miller packaging and not the original NYX packaging. It still applies beautifully, I just need to get comfortable with using it.

I am using up the Buttery Nude lip cream; I like it and yet I think, for myself, cream lip products are just not preferable. It’s simply easier for me to use lipstick, and it’s easier even to use a little lip gloss over the lipstick, than to get the cream product to look good on me. It’s not sanitary to pass on a used cream product.

Chloé Eau De Parfum is just lovely. I had gotten a sample of it about two years ago and just loved the scent, so much that I recently got a full-sized bottle. I keep one sample in my bag and will be using the sample shown before I head out the door before I start using the full-size. The notesare (taken from Sephora.com): Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lily of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, and Honey.

The LORAC eye primer sample came with a purchase. I have not used it yet or before, so I’m interested in finding out if it will work for me. I don’t own any other primers and had been using cream shadows as primers for almost a year now. It is a perfect time to try this out as I had won the LORAC Vixen palette.

Next month, I plan to give any notes/ reviews I have on the items, especially on the ones that I haven’t used before, and then give a (hopefully quick) list of products for February, and so on. I’m hoping I can get it into a not-too-long post and not have to split it into two posts, so we shall see how this goes!
