Look At Me: Who’s Got Moxie?

[Disclaimer: really? Okay. I am not a makeup artist. I like to play with makeup. All products purchased by me.]

For Father’s Day dinner with the family, I created a look featuring MAC’s lipstick in Moxie

Moxie is a pinkish red fuchsia matte lipstick with a cool undertone. For a matte, it is creamy and doesn’t dry out the lips. Moxie has lasting power; I wore it throughout dinner and it was still present when I got home, with no touch-ups. A dab of Tea Rose just in the center of the lips added subtle shine and dimension.

For the eyes, I paired it with equally long-lasting Color Tattoos for the base and warm neutral colors from the original Naked palette. Barely Branded was placed on the inner half of the lid; Tough as Taupe went on the outer half of the lid, then blended out into the crease and up towards the brow bone. Sidecar was used over Barely Branded with Toasted over Tough as Taupe on the outer half and into the crease. Hustle was used to deepen the outer “v” of the lid. The inner corner (tear duct) and brow bone were highlighted with Sin.

To line the eyes, both upper and lower lash lines, I used Tough as Taupe as the base, topped and blended out with Creep. NARS Deep Throat blush is described as a “flirty, sheer peach.” I think the blush complements Moxie well; it brightens up the face without stealing the show, unless one wants it to!

What I had for dinner: Clam Chowder
What I had for dinner: Grilled Salmon

The next day, I had a wedding to attend. I wore the same look with a couple of changes. I used a black water-resistant liner on the waterline and wore a nude lip color. Here's what that looksed like :

===Quick note(s)===
Also contributing to the lasting power of Moxie: dinner wasn’t greasy, so I didn’t feel the need to wipe my mouth and thus, wiping off the lipstick.

Since Moxie was a limited edition color, a similar and available color would be Milani’s Flirty Fuchsia which can be found at several drugstores. Flirty Fuchsia has a little more pink to it with more of a satin finish, also long-lasting.

Yes, I’m still working out the lighting situation, but I really like the daylight bulb lighting so far!

For comparison: medium tone with cool yellow undertone, MAC Studio Fix in C30, Neutrogena Healthy Skin in 60 Natural Beige, or Revlon Colorstay in 250 Medium Beige.

Advice on the Color Tattoos: in order to help the Color Tattoo last longer, store them lid down.

Edgy Emerald on the lid. Lime Green on the inner half of lid, also to highlight the inner corner. Moss on the outer half, blended up and out, and also in the crease. Rock & Roll mid-shade to blend out crease edge. Endless Pearl on brow bone.

Esmeralda on the inner bottom half lash line. Emerald City on the outer bottom half lash line and on upper lash line. Spring Leaf to smudge out the liners.

I am not getting the concealer to work as a real eyelid primer, so I will be picking up a primer soon. Shadows crease quite a lot on my lids.

If I had to change anything else I did with this look, I would have lined the waterline with black and used a blush that was slightly more pink. I might have also used a lighter neutral brown or gray to blend out instead of the R&R mid-shade; I think it made Moss look a little dirty.

Otherwise, I’m content with the look.

===Quick note(s)===
Recently, I changed my lighting to daylight bulbs, so hopefully the colors in the photos will be more true and consistently so. Previous lighting would often wash out the color a lot.

Yes, I modified my photos. Basically, I don’t want to show my room and ought to rig up a backdrop for these photos.

Sei Bella products are available through a Melaleuca representative, which I am. I am trying to use up my Sei Bella products only because they are the oldest in my makeup arsenal; I do like the products.

Healthy Go: Drive It Out

No food pictures, so I leave you with
Contemplative Cat!
(Spending time with one of my Loves,
always a feel-better time)
First, I am okay.

Second, umm….

I wasn’t going to post anything today. I’m a little discouraged, I suppose. I didn’t want to write another post that sounded like more excuses. Another week went by in which not much Healthy Go was going on. I jump-roped on Friday, I didn’t eat or drink water regularly. That’s it.

A few weeks ago, I had experienced brief pain, nothing alarming. Some discomfort has lingered and so I’m getting things checked out.

Again, I am okay. I’m just… feeling off still. I’ve been praying constantly, as I do, and it’s been a good reminder that God is in control, in all times.

I went for a drive. Needed to get out of the house and move. It was a good night for a drive. Ahh.

June measurements: all steady, not much change.

See ya’... next… time…? Thank you for stopping by.
